It's about time that we finally met expectations. The first half looked like more of the same with few opportunities being created by either team. Martin Skrtel made another start at Anfield and showed some quality defending.
In the second half, the imposters who had been wearing the red shirts for the past few games were shipped out and the real Liverpool squad finally turned up. The tide of the game shifted after a long cross from Jamie Carragher found the head of Peter Crouch. That goal re-energized the team and soon saw Torres make a run to grab a goal of his own.
To Sunderland's credit, they played more aggressively and created more chances when they were 2 down than they had earlier in the match. Unfortunately, they were denied two penalties, that, honestly, should have probably been awarded. Liverpool, however, was awarded a penalty at the other end and Gerrard sealed the fate of Sunderland.
Final Score: LFC 3 - 0 Sunderland
