Flip. Its hard to keep up with Ed's quality of posts so I have decided to copy him. Imitation is the best form of flattery, after all. Today I will pick my World Class 22, and follow that up with my top three news stories.
Goalkeepers (3)
Buffon, Cech, Casillas
Defenders (7)
Lahm, Terry, Cannavaro, Ramos, Vidic, A. Cole, Alves
Midfielders (8)
Gerrard, Pirlo, Ronaldinho, Mascherano, Messi, Ronaldo, Essien, Kaka
Strikers (4)
Drogba, Van Nistelrooy, Totti, Henry
Not too different to Ed's but I have left out Reina, Zambrotta, Nesta, Zanetti, Thuram, Gattuso, Sneijder, Rooney and Eto'o. Age was more of a priority to me, but to be honest I believe my defence combines all the right attributes that are requried right now. Give Micah Richards a couple of months and he might break in there! Left out Gattuso, as I feel Mascherano and Essien are better at that role, Essien can attack too. Ronaldo not in the squad? No chance of me leaving him out. And Sneijder may well be in there in a wee while. A couple of fantastic performances for Real Madrid just doesn't seal his place for me. I feel Rooney may well be world-class, but as for cold-blooded strikers, at the moment I believe there's none better than the four I have selected. Eto'o is unpredictable only in that you don't know which side of the net he will score in - Totti scored more last season, and on current form I go for him (plus Eto'o is injured which makes it easier for me).
News
Thank Goodness! Do you think Gerrard will play next weekend? With his determination who would doubt it?
Carra could also be back! Apparently he is recovering very well from his broken rib.
And apparently we are targeting Lazio's Pasquale Foggia. I don't know if this is anything like true, but he looks like a handy player. Not that we'd need him, of course, another midfield accessory.
