It's been a decent run out for the boys as they have kept the ball primarily in Crewe's half and a goal each from Lee Peltier and Peter Crouch has put them up comfortably. The new man, Andriy Voronin, has looked decent, he definitely has the strength and pace to make it in the EPL, though I doubt he'll see time in front of Torres and Kuyt. He also seems to work well with Stevie-G, which can only help his cause, but Voronin is going to have to learn to give Gerrard his space. At times they seem to be way too close, and when they aren't, they seem to play better together. Speaking of the skipper, it's fairly obvious he's taking it easy though he did have a screamer rattle the the cross bar.
Crouchy has been Crouchy, his goal was nice, but he still holds on to the ball too long. Peltier, Riise, and Spearing are all putting in decent efforts as well, with Riise getting the assist on Crouch's goal. I would like to know who's playing on the left though, because it seems that Riise has been going forward and El Zhar has been sitting back. At other times, it looks as if Peltier is over there. Maybe it's just one of Rafa schemes.
On defense, Hyypia looks in great form, running up and down the field like he was a twenty-something again. No one else is really standing out in the back as the attacks from Crewe have been few and far in between their efforts. Miki Roque though has been a bit dangerous on his tackles and clearances, while Pepe looks bored. That can end up being a bad thing, as he has already done some dangerous clearances instead of just collecting the ball, so I hope he gets taken out. Anyhow, onward and upward.
