Please, please, please tell me that we're not going after Darren Bent. Not that he's a bad player, but let's face it, he's not world class. I personally have never been impressed with him, but he does have 37 goals in 79 career matches at Charlton. It really comes down to two questions: Is he going to ascend to a world class level? And is he worth £15m? I think we have to try and get someone who's already either considered at that level or awfully close and if we have pay £20-25m than we have to do it.
On the other end of the spectrum is Ludovic Giuly. The 30-year-old Barca reserve striker/midfielder/winger is, according to less than creditable resources, denying reports that he has talked to Liverpool. Um, yeah, I think we'd keep Robbie before adding Giuly, especially since we already have a supersub striker/midfielder/winger in Voronin coming on board. I don't necessarily think it would be a bad move to add him since he is pretty versatile, but what would he cost and how would he feel if he hardly ever sees the pitch?
