On this day in 2007, Liverpool completed one of their best ever signings in club history. The Reds bought Spanish sensation Fernando Torres from Atletico Madrid for £20 million, which at that time was a lot of money.

Torres would go on to light the Premier League ablaze and become one of, if not the best, strikers in the world for a short period of time. I'm admittedly not even a Liverpool fan, but watching him score goals at Anfield and all over England will go down as one of my favorite moments as a football fan. I appreciate world-class players and he was truly that at the top of his game with Liverpool.
Unfortunately he left a bad taste in many supporters' mouths with his transfer to Chelsea. Hopefully after five-plus years the bitterness has subsided and we can reflect on all the amazing moments Torres provided for the club. Here's a great video of all the goals he scored at Liverpool. If it's too early and you still hate him, I apologize. Find me on Twitter and send me hate tweets if it's that unacceptable. But I can't hide my love for him any longer.
