Nathaniel Clyne has, to a remarkable degree, been injury free so far at Liverpool. While his compatriots in red have had to be replaced more often than the drummer for Spinal Tap, Clyney racked up 41 appearances—including 40 starts—for the club this campaign. Additionally, he had three starts and a substitution appearance for the Three lions. That’s a lot of football, and it’s actually less than he racked up in 2015/16.
So the lad could use a rest, and he’s getting it now, whether he wanted it or not. Clynebot missed out on the trip to Sydney, and now it appears he’ll miss England’s upcoming internationals through an unspecified injury. England are due to play away to Scotland on June 10th to continue their bid at World Cup qualification. They they are due to play a friendly against France in Paris June 13th.
Clyne is yet another Liverpool England international due to miss action because of injury, including Daniel Sturridge and Jordan Henderson. Hopefully Clyne will recover quickly and be rested and ready for the preseason. Because, you know, he’ll probably have like 5000 minutes of football next year.
