Sakho doesn't appear to deny that he took whatever substance he tested positive for, and there are a number of people (Carragher, Pearce) writing that he let the club down. So I wonder what his future is with Liverpool? He's young-ish (26) and arguably Liverpool's best CB. He plays hard every time I watch him and is a huge fan favorite. That said, he's looking at a potential minimum 6 month ban, and that's if the investigating body finds he didn't commit a knowing violation, which normally is a 2 year ban. So if he gets a 6 month ban that keeps him out until November do Liverpool stick with him or do they have to find a new CB? He's already put the team in a huge bind by missing out on the EL semis, but if he'll be back in November then Klopp can probably get by with Lovren/Matip/Gomez (and maybe even keep Toure around for another year) until Sakho returns. Hate that this happened to a guy who seems to be a genuinely good person but at the same time should have known better. To answer my own question, if only a 6 month ban I think it makes sense to stick with him, but I hate these kind of self-inflicted wounds.
And I know there are a lot of huge Sakho fans on here, so this isn't an attack on his playing ability or him as a person, but rather on what the club does that makes the most sense for next season, since it looks like Sakho's out for this one.
