Monday Morning Coffee....the double shot edition.

Yep, this weekend for me has been a case of "you don't know what you've got until it's gone." because Liverpool didn't play. The recent highly charged and entertaining Liverpool games have been like a triple shot Americano to bring my senses into a heightened state of "I'm awake!".

We have been blessed with some great fillers in the way of posts that have given us all of TLO the opportunity to wax lyrical and swoon over our favorite player in a Red jersey or even disclose our 'second love' (thanks Chuck for that one). It's from this that I started to realize that most of my flirtations with other teams has been greatly influenced by certain duets and my thoughts back to a certain Juventus era started the memories flowing.

I was immediately drawn to Fabrizio 'white feather' Ravanelli (who I refer to as 'the silver fox') and so I started following them and also the Italian League was broadcast in the UK with greater accessibility than the EPL for a while.

Another marvel of footballing partnerships was the Chilean passion of Salas and Zamorano.

I fell in love with the determination, skills and just shear power of these two.....and who can forget the moment when cameras captured the heart of Zamorano during Chile's national anthem in 98.

Of course now we have Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge and I know through experience that when a team has such a great partnership within it some real magic can happen....and man are we witnessing it this season. There is no other team in the EPL at present who has anything close to this.

If I look elsewhere in the sporting world I guess one duet was Torvill and Dean and as much as I didn't care too much for figure skating nor being patriotic as a kid I was completely sold on the wonders they served up.

So,we have a weekend starved of our mighty Reds but it's going to be a full on affair this coming Sunday so let the week commence and all the tactical discussions begin....and after reading David Moyes's letter here it is let's show the Old Toilet's crowd how football should be played and make their season even worse with a Liverpool double over them.

With that I shall open the doors and welcome anyone and everyone to come inside and share whatever you want... maybe a sporting duo who left an impression on you or maybe a story along the lines of "you don't know what you've got until it's gone"?
