After starting up front with Lorenzo Insigne in the 1-0 win over England on Thursday, Fabio Borini was dropped to the bench against Israel, ultimately failing to make an appearance in a match won comfortably by the Italians. The tournament hosts couldn't make up any ground after the well-worked opener finished off by Riccardo Sapponara, and were forced to play a man down for the Eyal Golsa was sent off in the 37th minute for a reckless challenge.
Italy can cruise in their final group match against Norway having already secured a place in the semifinals, but Israel will have to hope for a victory over England and a Norwegian loss in order to make it through.
