For this Liverpool fan, our principal owner John Henry just seems to keep growing in stature.
When he, over the summer, calmly and assertively refused to give in to the player power, which so rampantly are wreaking havoc in other clubs, we all felt our hearts soar in silent song. John Henry even had the guile to put it all into perspective with one of his rare tweets.
Afraid to upset our talismanic star, Luis Suarez, and thereby undoing any or all of the cautious progress back towards former levels of glory, we held our breath and wondered how Luis Suarez would respond to a club, which for the first time in his career, kept to the letter of the law and put up with no nonsense from its most prolific employee.
But this is where John Henry, and the rest of the ownership at FSG, comes into their own; It is not all tough-guy machismo and bravado from the men in charge, but rather a refreshing brand of tough love - infused with a touch of that all too rare perspective. So when John Henry uses his Twitter account to also heap praise on our dynamic duo, and Suares in particular, this is not a desperate man seeking to placate his star performer.
Last night The Guardian posted another touching piece on how John Henry's tough love works: Putting his personal jet at Luis Suarez' disposal as he returns from international duty with Uruguay. This will effectively buy Suarez an extra day of rest and training at Melwood before the important Merseyside derby on the weekend.
One can see how the tough love of John Henry works: This is a family. We will not let you walk out on your family. But in this family, we will do everything in our power to help you.
